How it works

Feedback in seconds. Clarity on what to do next.

Feedback in seconds

Teachers take 2-3 weeks to hand back an assessment task. We give detailed written feedback on every answer — in seconds. So you know what to fix while it still matters.

Practise the exact assessment task you have next

Your school runs assessments for specific modules. ScoreReady matches your module and outcome so you practise exactly the task coming up — not generic revision.

Marks that show you how to improve

School assessments count heavily toward your final result. Know where marks are won and lost with feedback that explains your grade and shows the gap to full marks.

This is what every written answer gets. In seconds.

1

A student sits an exam and is asked to fight off a large dog. Explain the role of the sympathetic nervous system in the student's physiological response.

Sample short-answer response

2 / 3

Your response

The sympathetic nervous system activates the fight-or-flight response, so the student's heart rate and breathing speed up to give them energy. Adrenaline is released which makes them feel alert and ready to react to the dog.

Partial - 2 / 3 marks

What earned marks
  • You correctly identified that the sympathetic nervous system triggers the fight-or-flight response.
  • You linked increased heart rate, faster breathing and adrenaline release to preparing the body for action — the key physiological changes the question is after.
Ways to gain more marks
  • The response names adrenaline but does not link it to the adrenal glands and the release of cortisol, which the question requires to explain how the response is sustained.
  • It describes the changes but does not connect them to the scenario — say how each change would actually help the student fight off the dog.
Exam strategy

For a 3-mark “explain” question, aim for three distinct linked ideas. A quick habit: name the structure, state what it does, then tie it back to the scenario. Here that third link — back to fighting off the dog — is the mark you left on the table.

Learn the concept

The sympathetic nervous system is a branch of the autonomic nervous system. When a stressor is perceived, it activates the fight-or-flight response: the adrenal glands release adrenaline and noradrenaline, raising heart rate, redirecting blood to the muscles and dilating the airways so the body can respond quickly to a threat.

Next step

Try one more stress-response question and make sure every physiological change you name is tied back to the scenario in the question. That single habit turns 2/3 answers into 3/3.
